Home Town: Bedford, currently living in Riccall. I have lived in Yorkshire since 1998.

Karate Highs: The challenge of learning something new each class. The clearing of the mind from all worldly worries during classes.
Karate Lows: Feeling like a medical student again on the dreaded Consultant ward round when you know, eventually, you won’t be able to answer a question. It feels much the same, on occasions, when lined up in front of Sensei. The constant struggle with flexibility.

Favourite Kata: Heian Shodan as it’s the only one I know for the moment. When I say know I mean remember the moves!
Karate Ambitions: Aim for 1st Dan before entering OAP land.
Other Interests: Weight training (the proper free weights e.g dumbbells & barbells with emphasis on good form, not machines! Don’t get me started.), Cycling (hence the lack of flexibility). I have started running because I’ve been roped into by the Facing Africa charity.
